Running costs
Estimate the annual electricity cost.
Choose a model and enter the price you pay for electricity. We use TCL’s standard test results to give you a yearly cost estimate. Your actual use will depend on your home and hot water needs.
Calculator
Read this before you rely on it
A useful comparison. Your bill will vary.
- Based on a standard test. TCL lists 1,233 kWh a year for ENTH-200 and 1,154 kWh for ENTH-250 under the same standard hot water demand test, called “XL”. These are test results, not measurements from your home.
- Your household will use a different amount. Hot water use, temperature settings, incoming air and use of the back-up heater all affect consumption.
- Room heat matters. If the unit takes heat from a heated room, your home heating may need to replace that heat. This calculator does not include that extra cost.
- Electricity for the water heater only. Standing charges, installation and maintenance are excluded. The estimate assumes your chosen rate stays the same for the year.
Why is the larger model’s test figure lower? The two models were tested against the same hot water demand. The ENTH-250 has a higher tested COP (3.50 versus 3.30). A larger tank does not automatically mean a higher annual test figure. Choose the size to suit demand, rather than this number alone.
Default rate source: Ofgem, "Changes to energy price cap between 1 October and 31 December 2026", 26 August 2026. Electricity unit rate 26.32 p/kWh, direct debit, GB average, excluding VAT.
Cheaper hours
Heat the water when power costs less.
If your tariff has cheaper hours, type that rate into the calculator above to compare. This comparison assumes all of the stated electricity use is at that rate. In practice, some heating may fall outside your cheaper hours.
Heat in your cheaper hours.
Timed heating in the TCL Home app lets the unit heat the tank in the hours your tariff charges less.
Heat when power is plentiful.
SG-Ready lets a compatible energy controller send heating signals to the unit. Your installer must check the controls and connections; a smart meter alone does not provide this function.
